Town’s U15s fell to a 3-2 defeat to Manchester United’s youngsters in their annual Portman Road showcase friendly on Friday evening. The young Blues were the better side before the break but both their goals — scored by Nick Ingram and Sean McKirdy - came in injury time of a second half in which the visitors had largely been on top.

Assistant boss Chris Hutchings has challenged Town’s younger players to keep showing they’re worth their shirts when the Blues take on Hull City at the KC Stadium on Saturday. Town were again guilty of suicidal defending as Leeds came from behind to win 3-1 at Elland Road. The excellent Andy Drury put the Blues ahead in the first half and Town looked on their way to the three points until a succession of calamitous defensive errors saw keeper Alex McCarthy sent off after he handled outside his area and the home side score three times.

Sam Vokes opened the scoring from a header from a corner, then Chris McCann added the second just before the break. The Irishman added his second and the Clarets’ third, before Jay Rodriguez completed the scoring.
